Datacentre Testing
A new datacentre is designed and expected to run continuously for the duration of its design life. To achieve this level of reliability it is necessary to thoroughly test the infrastructure before it goes into production. It is necessary to mimic the characteristics of the IT equipment as closely as possible. Using servers to complete the tests is not possible for a variety of reasons; cost of servers, potential for damage to servers, complexity of workload management to drive the servers and the time taken to reset servers after each test.
The safest and most economic way to test a datacentre is to use a heat load bank; this provides electrical load and produces a heat load, facilitating testing of the electrical and cooling systems in a controlled environment. In conjunction with leading Mechanical & Electrical consultants, Mafi Mushkila has developed two rack mountable 3u 2kW heat loads that closely replicates the characteristics of IT servers. We have in excess of 4MW of rack mounted units available, with a further 3.7MW of floor standing 15 and 22kW 3-phase floor standing heat load units. Rack mounted units can be provided with C14, C20, UK 3-pin 13Amp or 16Amp commando plugs.
Mafi Mushkila heat loads have been successfully used for the testing of small, medium and mega datacentres, ITEC rooms, containerized, modular and prefabricated IT rooms across the UK, Eire, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Our heat loads have been used in all market sectors including insurance, banking, investment banking, petrochemicals, telecommunications, military and genetics research. Available on equipment only hire basis or as part of a fully managed, installation, operation and maintenance service.

Following an exhaustive search and test process, Mafi Mushkila was selected to provide the heatload test our revolutionary, ultra-efficient blade room datacentre facility. Our requirements were precise as to the performance criteria of the heatload, which had to replicate the characteristics of servers as closely as possible. The units were delivered to site in datacentre friendly packaging and installation was successfully carried out by Mafi Mushkila to our schedule, with the minimum of fuss.
